Untranslated / Huang Contemporary / London

2025

The language emerges slowly-broken, layered, and quietly defiant.
11 artists and 11 untranslated scenes.
Untranslated is a female group exhibition interrogating who holds the power to define the language of art.

Bringing together women artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, the exhibition addresses themes including body shame, medical oppression, emotional labour, and gendered expectations-through painting, video, performance, and repair-based practices.
In an era obsessed with visibility and explanation, these artists choose to seek their own language of expression.
This is not avoidance, but a strategy: When the language is not made for you, an untranslated artistic voice becomes a form of resistance.

Participating artists:
Antonia Caicedo Holguin ,Dong Dong, Jingshan Ding, Josefina Sumar, Liang Lisha, Lorraine Huang, Magdalena Gluszak-Holeksa, Qian Zhong, Souffle Collective, Yilina Yang, Yuxin Tang
Chief Curator
Yutong Ye
Assistant Curators : Faithe Yang, Fanglin Luo, Jade Lin
